i have really nosy coworkers and i don’t like telling people that the reason i didn’t go anything for 3 years is because i was steamrollered flat by crippling depression but at the same time it’s like, i can’t be bothered to get all cagey about something in nandos so i end up being all cheery and breezy ‘i was depressed! yeah for years and years! yep, i was in hospital! i know right! haha!’ and then they say

‘why?’

  1. aristotlex said: I know what you mean, and it sucks. I had to leave UCL for a year and then again for another semester due to severe depression and anxiety. Everyone always asks me why I was on leave, and I either avoid answering or blurt the truth; both are awkward.
